Accessibility statement
Updated November 2, 2026.
We want anyone to be able to compress images with Compressor, including people who use a screen reader, keyboard, magnification or sign language. The goal is to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA.
What we've done
- Everything works with the keyboard, with a visible focus and a "Skip to content" link at the top.
- The image drop area is also a button: with Tab and Enter you choose files without dragging.
- Compression progress and the final summary ("12 images ready. You saved 8 MB.") are announced to screen readers.
- When compression finishes, focus moves to the result. Each "Download" and "Compare" button names the file it refers to.
- The before and after divider moves with the arrow keys and announces how much of each side is visible.
- Colors have a minimum contrast of 4.5:1 in both light and dark themes.
- The site respects the system setting to reduce motion.
Accessibility panel
The "Accessibility" button at the top of every page opens a panel where you can:
- increase text size to 115, 130 or 150%;
- turn on high contrast (7:1);
- switch to a reading font that helps with dyslexia and low vision;
- underline all links, enlarge the cursor and pause animations;
- use a reading guide that follows the mouse.
Your choices are saved only on this device and apply to every tools.codes app.
Known limitations
- Image alt text gives the file name, not what the photo shows. Compressor doesn't see the content of your images.
- The before and after comparison is visual. For people who can't see the image, what matters is in text: the size before and after and the savings for each file.
- Supported formats are the ones your browser can open. If an image won't open, the notice says so in text on its row.
