About Video Compressor

Video Compressor is a free tool for making videos smaller. The idea is simple: shrink a video without installing software, creating an account or sending the file to someone else's server.

How it's built

Everything runs in your browser. The page reads the video, then decodes and re-encodes each frame with your device's own video encoders (WebCodecs), using the open-source Mediabunny library. There's no database of your videos, because they never reach us.

How it's funded

With Google AdSense ads, shown in spaces separate from the tool. You choose whether ads can be personalized; the choice lives under "Cookies" in the footer. Details in the privacy policy.

Who makes it

Video Compressor is part of tools.codes, a set of free tools made in Brazil by a software developer. Suggestions, bug reports and feature requests are welcome.
