Accessibility statement

We want anyone to be able to compress a video here, including people who use screen readers, keyboards or magnification. Our goal is to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA.

What we've done

Everything works with the keyboard, with a visible focus and a "Skip to content" link at the top.
The video drop area is also a button: with Tab and Enter you pick the file, no dragging needed.
The compression and audio options are radio groups that move with the arrow keys; the MB limit is a labeled number field.
The size estimate, the progress (in 25% steps) and the "video ready" notice are announced to screen readers.
No video plays by itself: the preview and the result have the browser's controls and only play when you say so.
When compression finishes, focus moves to the result. If the video didn't get smaller, the warning is shown in text, not just color.
Colors meet a minimum 4.5:1 contrast in both light and dark themes.
The site honors the system setting to reduce motion.

Accessibility panel

The "Accessibility" button, at the top of every page, opens a panel where you can:

increase text to 115, 130 or 150%;
turn on high contrast (7:1);
switch to a reading-friendly font, which helps with dyslexia and low vision;
underline all links, enlarge the cursor and pause animations;
use a reading guide that follows the mouse;
show the VLibras translator into Brazilian Sign Language.

Your choices are saved only on this device and apply to every tools.codes app.

Known limitations

The tool needs WebCodecs, a video feature of recent browsers. Without it, the page says so in text and doesn't offer compression.
Long videos can take several minutes and use a lot of memory, especially on phones.
Subtitles embedded in the video are not kept in the compressed file.
