Accessibility statement
Last updated November 1, 2026.
We want anyone to be able to make a GIF with GifCut, including people who use screen readers, keyboards or magnification. Our goal is to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA.
What we've done
- Everything works with the keyboard, with a visible focus and a "Skip to content" link at the top.
- The video drop area is also a button: with Tab and Enter you pick the file, no dragging needed.
- The clip start and end sliders move with the arrow keys and announce the time ("0:03.5"). The "Start here" and "End here" buttons use the point where the video is.
- The size estimate, the progress (in 25% steps) and the "GIF ready" notice are announced to screen readers.
- When the GIF is ready, focus moves to the result; the GIF has alt text with the video name and the clip used.
- Colors meet a minimum 4.5:1 contrast in both light and dark themes.
- The site honors the system setting to reduce motion.
Accessibility panel
The "Accessibility" button, at the top of every page, opens a panel where you can:
- increase text to 115, 130 or 150%;
- turn on high contrast (7:1);
- switch to a reading-friendly font, which helps with dyslexia and low vision;
- underline all links, enlarge the cursor and pause animations;
- use a reading guide that follows the mouse.
Your choices are saved only on this device and apply to every tools.codes app.
Known limitations
- The GIF plays by itself and loops, because that's how the format works. Choose loop "Once" if you're posting for people sensitive to motion, and avoid clips with fast flashes.
- The GIF's alt text says where it came from, not what it shows. GifCut doesn't see the video's content; when you post it, write your own description.
- Supported video formats are the ones your browser can play. If a video won't open, the notice says so in text.
