How to make a GIF on your phone
GifCut works in your phone's browser, with no app to install. The video stays on your device from start to finish.
Android
- Open tools.codes/en/video-to-gif in Chrome.
- Tap "Choose video" and pick the video from your gallery or files.
- Adjust the clip and options and tap "Make GIF".
- Tap "Download GIF". The file goes to your Downloads folder.
iPhone and iPad
- Open tools.codes/en/video-to-gif in Safari.
- Tap "Choose video" and then "Photo Library".
- Adjust the clip and options and tap "Make GIF".
- Tap "Download GIF" and choose where to save it. To keep it in Photos, touch and hold the GIF and choose "Save to Photos".
Phone tips
- Use a width of 320 or 480 px. Bigger GIFs weigh on the phone's memory and take longer.
- Keep the screen on while the GIF is being made; the browser may pause a page in the background.
- HEVC videos (the iPhone default) open in Safari. Some Android phones can't open them; record in "Most Compatible" or convert to MP4.
